I hope you’re enjoying these first hints of spring! While we all know March in New Hampshire can be a bit of a wild card, switching from sunny 50s to a surprise snowstorm in the same afternoon, there’s something so refreshing about the days getting longer.
I’ve been spending a lot of time out in our communities lately, and between the mud season boots and the local sugar shacks starting to steam, there is a real sense of energy returning to the region. Here is a little update on what’s happening in our backyard and the latest on the local housing front. If you’re itching to get outside but aren't ready to deal with the deep slush of the High Peaks, these are my two favorite "shoulder season" spots in the area: |

Pack Monadnock (Peterborough): This is my go-to this time of year. Because the Marion Davis Trail is well-maintained and gets decent sun, it tends to dry out a bit faster than others. It’s a steady climb, but the view from the fire tower at the top is spectacular, and you can often see all the way to the Boston skyline on a crisp March day.
Mine Falls Park (Nashua): If you want to avoid the "Monadnock Mud" entirely, the trails through Mine Falls are perfect. It’s mostly flat and loops along the Nashua River and the old canal system, plus some are paved. It’s perfect for a weekend walk or bike ride, where you don’t need a full gear list just to get some fresh air. |

If you haven’t visited a local sugar shack yet, NH Maple Weekend is coming up March 21–22nd.
I recommend a trip to Ben’s Sugar Shack in Temple. Ben started sugaring when he was just 5 years old, and now he’s running one of the largest operations in the state. His Maple Station Market on Route 101 offers a marketplace, deli, and outdoor seating. If you head over there this month, here’s what you shouldn't miss:
Free Tours: Every Saturday and Sunday in March 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., you can see the giant evaporators in action. Don't touch (like I accidentally did), it's hot!
The "Maple Creemee": Even if it's chilly out, you have to try their famous maple soft-serve. My favorite is the maple chocolate twist!
BBQ Sauces: Ben's Ben's Honey Sriracha Sauce is a staple in our household. But there's many other flavors to try!

Also, a quick shout-out to the Souhegan Sustainability Fair in Milford on March 28th. It’s a great local event with live music, a live owl presentation, information on local hikes, food donations and kids crafts. It’s these kinds of events that remind me why I love living and working in this corner of the world.

You might be hearing national headlines about the housing market, but here in Southern and Central NH, things are moving to their own beat.
Right now, we are seeing what I call a "Quiet Comeback." Unlike the frenzy of a few years ago, the 2026 market feels more intentional.
For Sellers: Inventory is still technically low, which means you still hold the cards if your home is move-in ready. The sellers who are winning right now, are those who are well staged, priced right, and don't need significant repairs. Let's discuss how to get your home market ready.
For Buyers: We’re seeing a 15–20% increase in new listings compared to this time last year. You actually have options now, and while Manchester and Nashua remain "hot," we’re seeing a lot of great opportunities in outlier towns.
The takeaway? It’s a much healthier balance. Prices are stabilizing rather than skyrocketing, making it a great time to strategize if you've been sitting on the sidelines. |
